World Lung Day 2025
The Dental Health Foundation is proud to join the global community in recognising World Lung Day 2025. This year’s theme highlights the importance of prevention, education, and access to care for those living with lung conditions.
What many people don’t realise is that oral health and lung health are closely linked. Research shows that poor oral health can increase the risk of respiratory infections, while certain lung conditions such as asthma, COPD, or cystic fibrosis can also affect the mouth, increasing the likelihood of gum disease, dry mouth, and other oral health challenges.
By raising awareness of this connection, we aim to support patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in adopting a whole-body approach to health. Good daily oral hygiene, regular dental visits, and open communication between dental and medical teams all play an important role in supporting overall wellbeing.
