DHF Supports World Head and Neck Cancer Day – July 27th

The DHF proudly supports World Head and Neck Cancer Day on July 27th, raising awareness of cancers that affect the mouth, throat, larynx, nose, and salivary glands.

Head and neck cancers can often be detected early, making awareness and education critical. As part of our commitment to oral and overall health, we encourage everyone to be aware of the signs and symptoms and to seek advice promptly.

Common Symptoms to Watch For:

  • A sore in the mouth that doesn’t heal

  • Persistent sore throat or hoarseness

  • Difficulty swallowing

  • A lump or swelling in the neck or mouth

  • Unexplained weight loss

  • Ear pain (especially on one side)

Key Advice:

  • Don’t ignore persistent symptoms – early detection saves lives.

  • Visit your dentist or GP if you notice anything unusual.

  • Avoid tobacco and limit alcohol, both major risk factors.

  • Protect yourself from HPV – speak to your doctor for advise.

  • Attend regular dental check-ups, where soft tissue screenings are part of routine care.

Together, we can help reduce the impact of head and neck cancers through education, prevention, and early diagnosis.
