The Oral Health Promotion Research Group Ireland is now in its 10th year. It is a multidisciplinary group that aims to foster the development of joint working and shared experiences in Oral Health Promotion both North and South. Anyone with experience of and a special interest in Oral Health Promotion is very welcome to join e.g health promoters, public health nurses, dieticians, GP'S, speech and language therapists. The group has been supported by the Dental Health Foundation Ireland, who fund a bursary, which our members can access, to facilitate Oral Health Promotion development within Ireland. Our OHPRG Ireland web link has been set up on the Dental Health Foundation website and can be easily accessed.
One of the greatest benefits of membership is to know that you are part of a group with whom you can share your experiences and knowledge and from whom you can receive support in promoting Oral Health.
Our Conference in 2012 with its theme 'Integration' was held on the 14th September in the Ashling Hotel, Dublin 8 and appealed to a wide range of health care professionnals (CDP points applied). Minister for Health Dr James Reilly gave the opening address.
Last year we were facing "Challenging Times" and held our 10th Anniversary on Thursday, 12th September 2013 in the Ashling Hotel, Dublin 8. This Conference was very well attended and was of interest to all health care professionals. Our interactive session was very well received and several members of the audience are interested in pursuing further training in Motivational Interviewing.
This year on Thursday, 11th September we are looking at 'Promoting Oral Health - Challenge of a Lifetime' and have an action packed day lined up. See Flyer attached
