Second Symposium of the All Island Meeting on the Public Dental Services
27 Feb 2003
The Dental Health Foundation (DHF), in association with the Oral Health Managers Society of Ireland, hosted the second Symposium of the All Island Meeting on Public Dental Services in Mullingar on Thursday, 27th February 2003.
According to the DHF’s Executive Director, Deirdre Sadlier, the purpose of the meeting was to focus on priorities in public health, which are common on both sides of the border. In doing so, the public dental health service may have an influence on government action in various areas.
The symposium was addressed by leading national and international experts in these fields.
The keynote speaker was Northern Ireland Ombudsman, Mr Tom Frawley, who addressed the symposium on ‘Risk Management’ and ‘Change Management’ in the public service.
Other guest speakers included:
- Dr Wil Coulter delivering a paper on infection control standards;
- Dr Caroline Pankhurst discussing the management of contaminated dental unit waterlines;
- Dr Andrew Bolas addressing radiation protection for patients undergoing x-rays.
