World Water Day 2024!

22 March 2024

Drink water!

Maintaining good oral health involves more than just brushing and flossing; hydration plays an important role. Water not only quenches our thirst but also contributes significantly to dental well-being. It helps rinse away food particles and reduce acidity in the mouth, preventing decay and plaque buildup. Additionally, water encourages saliva production, which aids in neutralising harmful acids and remineralising enamel, strenghtening our teeth against cavities. Staying hydrated with water is not just beneficial for overall health but also vital for preserving a bright and healthy smile.

In Ireland, an estimated 70% of the population reside in communities served with water supplies containing a regulated amount of fluoride. The main advantage of water fluoridation is that its caries reducing effects are available to everybody on the fluoridated water supply and is considered safe even for infant use.
